A: Not at all. The Genuine "Large" model of the Santos-Dumont is also Quartz. Since there is no seconds hand ticking, it is visually indistinguishable from a mechanical watch on the wrist.
Q: How does the gold plating hold up?
A: AF uses a thick 5-micron plating method. With normal dress watch usage (avoiding heavy scratching/abrasion), the gold tone remains stable for years. We recommend wiping it down after use to remove oils.
Q: Is this the correct size for a man’s wrist?
A: Yes. Do not let the “31.4mm” width fool you. Square watches wear much larger than round ones. This Large model wears similar to a 38-39mm round watch and is the standard size for men in the Dumont line.
